Charles Alsheimer is an award-winning photojournalist, writer and seminar speaker from western New York. He joined Deer & Deer Hunting as a field editor in 1981 and was pivotal in conducting hunter-based research projects for the Stump Sitters in those early years. Alsheimer is widely considered to be North America’s foremost authority on white-tailed deer behavior.

Alsheimer’s awards and professional credits are many. Besides winning numerous awards for his photography and research-based articles, he has been instrumental in documenting the moon’s influence on the rutting behavior of whitetails.

Alsheimer is one of the top deer hunters of his era and has outsmarted many mature bucks in his travels across the Northern United States and Canada. Besides his work on D&DH, Alsheimer is a highly sought-after seminar speaker. He has also authored many critically acclaimed books, including Whitetail: Behavior Through the Seasons, Rites of Autumn, Quality Deer Management, Strategies for Whitetails and Hunting Whitetails by the Moon.
