Born in Alabama, Hal developed a love for the outdoors at an early age. Hunting and fishing was a favorite way to spend time with his dad and brothers. This interest in the outdoors led Hal to his first job in the hunting industry as host of a regional radio show called " Carolina Outdoors." He teamed up with Ken Cobb in 2003 to launch a TV show of the same name. Targeting a national audience led Hal and Ken to change the name to “Huntin’ The World...Southern Style,” which airs on the Outdoor Channel.

His uncanny ability to drop deer in their tracks has led to Hal being called "the originator of the Thompson Center TKO.” Also an accomplished bear hunter, Hal has taken quite a few over 20 inches. No matter what species he's hunting, his preparation and knowledge usually tip the scales in his favor.

When he's not in the field, you can find Hal in the studio editing upcoming episodes of “Huntin’ The World... Southern Style” (he's one of the best in outdoor tv), or following NASCAR, which is his other passion.
